Sassy the Bronze Wing Pionus

Sassy, a female bronze wing pionus is a bird that I met by accident. I offered to and eventually ended up finding Sassy a home....here. She is a beautiful lady who respects me. I'm proud of her. Somewhat of a perch potato by nature, she likes to hang out in her cage or on her open cage door occasionally flying over to sit on my shoulder. She converted to pellets from her former diet, but she looks forward to her little cache of pumpkin seeds that she gets as an evening treat. I regret that she is the only bird I have with an unknown hatchday....as her third owner....all I can do is celebrate the day she arrived, using the year on her band as a guide.

Sassy enjoys sitting on the top of her cage door quietly watching the activities of the more active birds. However, as soon as a vacuum cleaner starts up, this quiet bird starts posturing & dancing up & down her cage door sometimes hanging upside down with wings open & flapping.

A good neck scritching is one of her favorite joys & often brings forth some Pionus heavy breathing to accompany each rub. She will dive into her treat bowl for a handful of pumpkin seeds each night before lights out & cage covering.
