Papaya - Page 2

photo of a tiny bald baby parrot in a margarine cup.

Papaya was handfed from day 3....what a treat to meet this little one before his eyes were even open. Of course, I had no idea then that his future would be with us.

Here is Papaya at a little over 7 weeks old ....already a cutie showing green feather tips on his wings & a bit of orange where his tail is starting to grow. What big feet he has to grow into. This photo courtesy of Rita Shimniok

photo of a caique standing on a food bowl, eating a pellet.

Papaya loves to eat his pellets & a wide variety of soft foods.

This little upside down caique is demonstrating a behavior known as "no legs." He just doesn't have any legs at all so his human playtoy just cannot put him down.

This activity is known as "surfing" and involves vigorously rubbing the body up & down on that human playtoy. Surfing is mandatory when caiques are wet once the necessity for hanging upside down & flapping madly has been carried out. The unusual yellow tips on some of Papaya's tail feathers appeared with his molt & are of unknown cause.

Yet another page of pictures of me!
