Jardy the Greater Jardine's at 274 grams is the biggest parrot we have. He is an elegant green giant, rather dignified & always a challenge. He loves to watch me work on the computer from the doortop across the hall. As I type away, if I mention him and happen to look across, I will often find him all hunkered down so that he can see under the doorframe and keep a watchful eye on me to make sure I'm only writing his praises.

Jardy's natural elegance is enhanced by his efforts at preening. Look at him pull that feather to perfection.

Jardy loves his spaghetti whether cooked or uncooked. He kept breaking off pieces so I stuck a few of them back in his fist while he was chewing on a new piece & took this picture. I love to watch his big gnarly foot holding his uncooked treat & listen to the crunching as his long piece of spaghetti grows shorter & shorter within his grasp.

August 1999:
Jardy & Gaby the caique have a foot race across the living room floor to see who
is at the front door. Jardy will step up for complete strangers with an interested, "you're
someone new," attitude. He is especially happy if they happen to be males. He behaves himself
better around strangers like a little
kid on his best behavior.
Even tho Gaby walks that cross-footed caique walk, Jardy delays himself with a couple of circle turns & walking backwards as he's crossing the wide open space of the middle of the living room floor. Once he gets beyond a critical point known only to him, he makes an all out dash for wherever he's going. Gaby tho, has already arrived.
